I suppose the first question someone might ask is, "Why are you writing this blog?"
Well, the bulk of my life has been primarily centered around the building and selling of a successful business. I made it my life goal to retire at the age of 50.
Remarkably, we sold our business, and our last asset in Michigan, exactly on my 50th birthday! We then packed our bags and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
Little did I know around the corner lay one of the biggest challenges of my life. I hadn't given any thought to what retirement might look like. Furthermore, as I saw it, I just sold my significance.
Seemingly, my whole self-worth was wrapped up in my ability run a successful business, and now it was gone!
I went into a deep depression, gained 50 pounds, and begin to question myself over and over about the wisdom of my early retirement.
Since a young man, I have always been a person of faith in God. As I began to poke around for answers, I decided to make a significant commitment to the exploration of this faith I professed to possess.
This blog is that journey.
Please understand, this blog is not written to present myself as an expert in matters of faith. This blog is a journal of my discoveries, a legacy for my family, and a world-wide conversation for any who might want to come along.
I simply don't believe that this universe is the result of a cosmic bang or that my ancestors climbed out of some primordial soup.
I believe in God, and this blog will be my life-long quest to get to know him and understand him more.
I welcome you to the journey. This is going to be most interesting.
