Today's text from the ESV Study Bible: Psalms 3-4, 12-13, 28, & 55.
David is on the run again, this time from his son Absalom. During this time, David penned Psalm 3, and verse three in particular caught my attention:
my glory, and the lifter of my head."
Imagine the shame David must have felt to feel the stinging words of God against him for his sins regarding Bathsheba. And now, many years later seeing the disastrous fruits of his sin.
Yet, wonderfully yet, God is the lifter of his head.
Do you see the infinite beauty in that?
