We just returned from a long weekend spent in Napa Valley. We arrived with friends from our church, and spent time with Carol's sister who lives in Yountville, in the heart of Napa Valley.
I shot this photograph from atop a ridge while we visited the Quintessa Winery.
It is currently the time of the crush (picking of the grapes) in Napa Valley, and the sweet smell of crushed grapes were ever present in the air.
Every vineyard was alive with activity as the sudden cool weather triggered the precise time to pick this valley's bounty.
While we were visiting, I enjoyed Psalm 65:9-13 which came up in my reading:
"You visit the earth and water it;you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide their grain,
for so you have prepared it.
You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy."
