"The Recognition of Joseph by his Brothers", c 1816-17, by Peter Cornelius.
My wife and I just finished our devotions, listening to a podcast from Dr. Mark Devers, on the final chapters of Genesis and the life of Joseph.
I think I may have mentioned this before, but I greatly enjoy Dr. Mark Devers teachings, as they are generally from the perspective of a ship sailing across the vast ocean of God's word.
From time to time, Dr. Devers will through out a buoy, and recommend that you come back to a certain place, and dive deep into God's word, as he continues along in his message.
Today's message was just such an example. He reminds us that this isn't simply a story, from long ago, but reminds us that there is great teaching for us today in this ancient, and holy text.
Our country is currently knee deep in woe, as we suffer the results of a nation gone financially a muck. Although not everyone participated in the creation of said muck, for the Christian, if we try very hard, we can find comfort knowing that God is in control. Even in the midst of evil, God will use it for his glory.
Hard to comprehend? Please click the link above, and go deep sea diving with Dr. Mark Devers, in this most wonderful recounting of God's sovereignty.
Listen to the whole message, I promise you will be glad you did.
