When I heard the recent news of your cancer, my heart was deeply stricken. I have known you for such a short time, yet, because of your great spirit, both Carol and I were quickly drawn to you.
W,
What can I say to you my friend. This most horrific of news, stricken upon your farm girl cheerleader. I can't explain why, but when I met you, a short time ago, I felt an immediate friendship, a comrade entrepreneur, a real cool cat, and in some kindly way, has proclaimed my wife as one of your daughters. We understand that to be your way of saying, "She is special to you". We are both very lucky men to have very special wives.
K & W, I don't possess the words to make this hurt less. I don't possess the power to make it go away. I don't possess the intellect to explain why. The only power I possess, is the power to drop to my knees on your behalf.
Please know that we are both doing just that.
When I am working out in the fitness center, I always have in my ears, various theologians discussing their understandings of the Bible.
I was listening to Dr. Charles Swindoll, just the other day, speaking on the 23rd Psalm, and I immediately thought of the both of you. After listening to his reflection on this Psalm, I decided that I was going to post these messages to my blog, so that you could listen to them. Here they are:
God's Comfort in Psalm 23 (Part 1)
God's Comfort in Psalm 23 (Part 2)
Carol and I love you both, and hope that these reflections, on what is perhaps the most famous Psalm, bring you comfort, understanding, strength, and hope.
If there is anything that we can do, for either of you, please....call and count on us. Please do not isolate yourselves from the many people who love you.
Serving you, in this time of need, is our only way to demonstrate our love for you.
Love,
David & Carol Porter
