"Bathsheba" c 1890 by Paul Cezanne.
Internet porn is a very capable and stealth seductress. I suspect that there isn't a man alive, with access to a computer, that hasn't seen her sly face in one way or another.
Our society is gorged with news stories of broken lives wherein Internet porn was a main attribute.
As Christian men, we must all acknowledge that we are susceptible to her charms, and immediately shut the door when she bats her eyelashes.
One of the tools I use, to combat this allurement, is to verbally remind myself that, "I am dead to that". When I feel those stirrings, I audibly say to myself, "I am dead to that" and chase it away and remove the visual that is creating the siren's song.
This has become my immediate and instinctive reaction. Here is a great teaching from Jamie Rasmussen (Senior Pastor @ Scottsdale Bible Church) on how to combat these temptations in our lives.
John Piper today issues a warning, on his blog at desiring God, that we are not safe from adultery. Even King David, as he explains, was snared by his eyes, seeing the naked Bathsheba.
We simply must have a plan of defense when these attacks come. Because...they will come!
If you do find yourself entangled, then here is an incredible video, from John Piper, on how King David repented and set himself back on the right track.
You must have a thought out defense, and if you do get caught in the trap, clearly understand how to get back out!
