Kartchner Caverns, Arizona - in my never ending quest to witness God's creation we journeyed to Kartchner Caverns yesterday.
Photography is not allowed in the caverns so I had to contend with one that I found on the Internet.
The formation to the left is named Kubla Khan, a "famous" poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, evidently composed during an opium-induced dream:
- "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
- A stately pleasure-dome decree:
- Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
- Through caverns measureless to man
- Down to a sunless sea."
While I understand why they named this incredible structure as they did, I must confess that my mind was certainly not drawn to this man's poem.
Instead, I was tracking more with King David:
"May His glorious name be praised forever;
the whole earth is filled with His glory.
Amen and amen." Psalm 72:19
The systems that God put in place, from the beginning of time, continued to be a marvel to me today. As I witnessed one of the world's rare live caves and heard the dripping of tiny droplets of water in the bowels of the earth, and gazed upon the incredible wet and colorful display, I was once again brought to tears at the beauty of the Creator's hand.
No....I didn't see Kubla Khan...I saw the mighty hand of God.
