This week's recommended MP3 is one of the most moving messages in recent memory. You will need a box of tissues nearby for this one.
Be prepared for God to reveal his Son to you in very profound ways.
C.J. Mahaney is a rare and gifted orator and clearly is one in whom God has placed a special gift. It is also very apparent that this man deeply loves Jesus Christ.
This particular message is from this years Resolved Conference and is entitled "The Scream of the Damned" (right click and "save as" to download).
If you really want to get the full impact of this message then I highly recommend buying the video version of this message for $4.00. My wife and I just purchased and downloaded the whole series and have been profoundly moved by the messages.
"The Scream of the Damned" message was also brought to my understanding by A.W. Pink's, The Seven Sayings of the Saviour on the Cross series that I just completed a few weeks ago. Here is a link to my post on this particular topic.
As C.J. Mahaney proclaimed in his message, "this is the deep end of the theological pool and incredibly sacred ground".
You must hear, understand, and let this message change your thinking about who Jesus Christ is and what he really did here on earth.
This message gets my highest possible recommendation. If it were possible for me to do, I would require every Christian to spend one hour in listening to this message.
Please share with me your thoughts after you listen to this remarkable message.
Can you believe the price of oil and gasoline these days?
These ridiculous prices are seriously affecting the pocketbooks of every family in America.
Something, somewhere is clearly wrong. Don't get me wrong, I am a capitalist, but with oil companies making more profit then ever before, demand for oil down, and the price of oil to be where it is, something, somewhere is fishy in Denmark!
I also don't profess to be well enough informed to pontificate on the issue. That my friends, is what we have a congress and a senate for. Our legislators needs to fix this problems once and for all.
I received an e-mail this morning from Northwest airlines. It seems that the transportation industry is mounting a national campaign to ask congress to act and make meaningful reforms.
You can join their campaign and, with marvelous Internet technology, have a e-mail in your congressional and senate offices in less than two minutes.
Stand up and be heard! Just click on the banner to be transported to the Stop Oil Speculation Now website. Let work together to tame these ridiculous oil prices.
I want to take a few moments to brag about my daughter-in-law's quilting business and talents.
The quilt that you see to the left is one that she made for us, and presented to us on the day of her marriage to our son last September.
This photograph does it no justice. For our southwestern home, this was the perfect addition to our bedroom. My wife and I were stunned with its detail, color, design, and the obvious hours of laborious love that went into its creation.
The other day, I was doing a little fatherly consulting with Jessica regarding her business and I was amazed to learn that she is becoming a rock star in the quilting world.
On a recent trip to a quilting studio in the Los Angeles area, ladies were lined up early in the morning to meet her, get her autograph, and bring her more quilting work to do.
I don't profess to understand that quilting business completely, but evidently ladies "piece" together a quilting design and then my daughter-in-law, Jessica, is the one who actually "quilts" the pattern into a real quilt. Did I get that right Jess?
You can see hundreds of examples of Jessica's quilting talents on her Flickr site here and can also visit her quilting studio website here.
If you, or someone you know, is looking for an amazing, conscientious gal to quilt together your masterpiece, I couldn't more highly recommend anyone. But then again, I am probably just a bit biased.
Many of our national holidays are designed to allow us a day to reflect on the great heritage and blessings that God has heaped abundantly on our nation.
David Otto has become a friend and mentor of mine and is the Chairman of the Board for the Presidential Prayer Team. The Presidential Prayer Team exists primarily to organize and call our nation to prayer for the office of the President.
This 4th of July, please visit the website for The Presidential Prayer Team and support our great nation in prayer. There are many forces at work against God's family, and this nation, and prayer is our most powerful tool.
Happy Independence Day!
Tim Challies is starting another "reading Christian Classics" in a few weeks.
We just finished A.W. Pink's "The Seven Sayings of the Saviour on the Cross" and I found the book to be profound.
This reading project will be Jonathan Edwards "A Treatise Concerning Religious Affections"
This is 350 pages of pure unadulterated Kolbe beef. Pure meat!
It will be a very enlightening read and one that will span quite a period of time.
I just finished listening to Dr. Steve Lawson give a one hour lecture on the life of Jonathan Edwards which I would highly recommend. I have heard of Jonathan Edwards, but I really didn't know much about his life.
Some have said of him, that he was the most brilliant man to ever have lived in the United States. He was also a key figure in "The Enlightenment", which was a large revival back in the 18th century. He attended Yale at age 13 and was clearly a brilliant theologian.
If you want to stretch your mind a bit, and desire to seek God's presence, then I invite you along with us on this journey.
This weekend I heartily recommend to you an audio series from Dr. Steve Lawson on the Reformation.
Dr. Lawson is the Sr. Pastor of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
My experience has been that he is a faithful expositor of the scriptures and I have been finding this five part series on the Reformation very interesting and informative.
If you would like to have an understanding of the roots of the Protestant Church, this MP3 series is a very convenient and informative place to go.
An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that evolution had created.
"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!", he said to himself. As he was walking along the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. When he turned to see what the cause was, he saw a 7-foot grizzly charging right towards him. He ran as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing, He ran even faster, crying in fear. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that moment, the Atheist cried out "Oh my God!...." Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all of these years; teach others I don''''t exist; and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"
The atheist looked directly into the light "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as Christian now, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian?" "Very well," said the voice.
The light went out. The river ran again. And the sounds of the forest resumed.
And then the bear dropped his right paw ..... brought both paws together...bowed his head and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful."

You want to know what makes a great Father's Day? Well...just look above.
At the far left is my step-son Jerry showing off his muscles to his aunt Beth.
To his right is my son Joshua, posing in the north woods of Michigan for the camera.
I know, for the readers of this blog, that these photographs have no real deep significance. But to me....to me...these are most precious photographs.
What could be more precious than 14 year old Jerry, in between manhood and childhood, striking that pose that every boy strikes.
Then we come to Josh, ready to go fishing with his life preserver, fishing pole and D-15 bug spray.
Today these guys are both men. And men...I want you both to understand something very clearly..
I am very proud to be your dad! I love you both...dearly!
