This post is part of my 31 day journey through Andrew Murray's devotional treatise, "Waiting on God". You can find my reasons for this journey at this link.
Psalm 25:3 - Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame...
Our country, and the world for that matter, is precariously standing on a log, in a rapidly moving river, trying with all of our might to keep from falling in, and potentially drowning.
The reason we find ourselves doing this unsettling balancing act is that our country, and a great many of its residents, have their hearts filled with greed, and idolatry (love of money).
Make no mistake, sovereign God has his hand in this economic correction. Furthermore, the path out of these economic woods is very far from certain.
It is, therefore, incumbent upon all of us to search our hearts, and repent. We need to, in all earnest, come clean, turn from our wicked ways, and seek the forgiving presence of our heavenly Father.
Then, as we wait upon him, standing in His presence with quiet hearts and mouths, we can, and will, find forgiveness, comfort, healing, and peace.
Dear friend, ours is no false hope. Our God is the one, and only, true God. Our God knows our fears. Our God, came to earth, put on flesh, and perfectly triumphed where we miserably failed. Jesus Christ died on a cross, in our stead, that we might stand before holy God in pure righteousness.
No, dear friend, this is no false hope. Indeed, those who wait upon the Lord, repenting of their sins, turning from their ways, shall not be put to shame.
Andrew Murray's prayer:
What a wonderful prayer! What a most wonderful promise!
