This post is part of a 13 day series, joining other Christian bloggers from around the world, reading together Frederick S. Leahy's classic, "The Cross He Bore".
Mark 15:23 - And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.
Here again, we see Satan attempting to obstruct Christ's obedient suffering. Satan, through his earthly minions, offers our Christ a cup of wine mixed with myrrh.
Myrrh was used for embalming, but evidently it was also used, when mixed with wine, as a narcotic.
Satan desired to drug Christ so that he would be unable to complete his task. But when this concoction was presented to Christ, on the cross, he refused it.
Christ has one cup to drink, and soon it was his task to drink dry the cup of God's holy wrath.
Satan must be scurrying around, he is about to meet his defeat.
