First of all, where is it written that your "official" photograph needs to look like a government name badge? Sorry, the photographer in me was in shock when I saw this photograph, on the White House website.
I was moved today, as I witnessed a great transformation happening. Although I did not vote for you, I am most pleased that our country has seen fit to put aside racial considerations, as a qualification for this most important position.
My heart tells me that a great deal of the emotion, around today's event, is that this may be our country's way of saying, "I'm sorry", to the untold thousands of African Americans, who have suffered great injustice, at the hands of racial prejudice. I pray that those dark days, and deep wounds, now find the path of healing.
God has clearly endowed you with the gift of oration. I pray that this gift will allow you to harness the imaginations, the forward thinking spirits, and a new wave of civility of all the people across this blessed nation.
I will now join the many thousands of people, all across this land, who have you added to their daily supplications at the Presidential Prayer Team.
If I may be so bold, might I send a few words of wisdom your way?
- Find a place in that White House, and make it your meeting place with God. When all the world is pressing on you, seeking their own ways and desires, go to the source of all creation and seek His ways and desires.
- Purpose in your heart to find time, each day, to seek wisdom from God's infinite storehouse of wisdom.
- Ask of the Holy Spirit, that he would shine God's true light in your mind, and guide your paths.
- Stand strong before your country, bold against those who seek to oppress, but please President Obama, tremble before your holy Father. Fight hard against that pride which is so easy for our flesh to enjoy.
- Our land is a land that seems to shun true truth. I am convinced, that in your heart, you understand that there indeed exists true truth. Seek it with all your heart and strength.
- But most of all, Mr. President, make absolutely certain that your name is indeed placed in the Lamb's Book of Life. Make certain on that day, when the Lord breaks through the clouds, that you too are included, with the elect of God, to enjoy the great inheritance of being a son of God. Then, in the sweet bye and bye, we can enjoy great conversation, for all eternity, about this most honored position, that God, by His unbounded grace, has so destined you to employ.
Do these things, kind sir, and you will have the undying loyalty of this man's heart, and perhaps be the man who changes the shape, for the better, of our country.
God bless you. God bless America.
Sincerely,
David Porter
