Pope Benedict XVI kicks off Marathon Televised Bible Reading

Popebiblemaratho_1004758cVatican City - Pope Benedict XVI has kicked off a week long, 24 hours a day, televised reading of the whole of the Bible repleat with 1,200 readers who range from opera singers, former prime ministers, to your average Italian Jesepe.

I can remember times when my Catholic brothers and sisters friends never once cracked the pages of their Bibles.  Further still, there were times, in history past, when the Catholic church sought to prevent the populace from reading God's holy word.

I am greatly encouraged to see this Pope willing to bring the word of God, directly from the Bible, without interpretation, into the homes of the world.
