I was reading yesterday, the announcement of young Bristol Palin's teen pregnancy. My first thought was for the family. There is going to be a lot of pressure on this young family in the coming months. Please pray for them.
Secondly, I want to appeal to the evangelical world to model Christ in this situation, and send the devil and his pride (hidden in the cloak of embarrassment) packing.
If the word, or even the thought of embarrassment comes into your mind, in this difficult situation, then you my friend are displaying prideful behavior.
I submit to you that, in your embarrassment, you are leaving this teen alone and even more dejected. Worse yet, because they feel your embarrassment, the situation gets even worse! How many teens do you suppose, seek the abortionist, because they can't face their parents!
I submit that this photograph portrays a Christ-like, agape love. Sure, we must acknowledge the sin, but then, above all else, allow the teen to come running into your arms and seek your forgiveness.
For heavens sake, don't let your pride damage the situation even more. These situations are the results of a young teens poor decisions, it has nothing to do with your concerns of what people may think.
This is your pride. In this situation, it doesn't matter what people think. It is just you, Christ, your precious hurting child, and a young baby soon to be in the world.
Christ would display love, require a repentant heart, and then have us go and sin no more.
Let's not, as a nation, poor our contempt on this young, tender child. She made a mistake, yes. We all make mistakes. Let's acknowledge the mistake, and pour our love and prayers on this family.
